The Baltic House International Theatre Festival is one of the most significant forums in Europe.

Baltic House Theatre-Festival.
Held yearly in October since 1991. Since 1993 to 2001, the Festival was arranged on competition principles, and from 2002, it stopped being a competition, but became a thematic one. The subjects of the Baltic House were: Teacher-Apprentice, The Other Theatre?, Wandering Stars, All Nekrosius, Anatomy of Theatre, Live Theatre, All Tuminas etc.
General stages – all scenic areas in the Baltic House Theatre-Festival, as well as stages in St. Petersburg theatres.
The Festival program includes premiere performances by significant European stage directors, both well-known to St. Petersburg audiences and those presenting their productions at the Baltic House Festival for the first time.
Baltic House festival actively collaborates with Baltic region countries and continually broads geography of participant countries - more than 250 performances from 30 countries of the world were shown at the Baltic House International Theatre Festival for its history.
Now the Festival is an integral part for not only St. Petersburg, but European culture life. Among participants of the Festival are recognized leaders of the world theatre – E. Nekrosius, T. Ostermeier, K. Martaler, G. Jarzyna, J. Jarocki, L. Perceval, A. Zholdak, J.-P. Vensant, O. Korshunovas, E. Nuganen, S. Purkarete, R. Sturua, R. Tuminas, A. Hermanis, the best stage directors from Moscow and St. Petersburg: L. Dodin, O. Efremov, Yu. Lyubimov, P. Fomenko, K. Ginkas, V. Fokin, V. Pazi, K. Serebrennikov, V. Tumanov, A. Galibin, Klim, B. Yukhananov and others.
Festival has strong ties with the prominent Lithuanian director Eimuntas Necrosius. The Baltic House International Theatre Festival is a co-producer of performances staged by the MENO FORTAS Theatre (Lithuania) – The Seasons, The Song of Songs, and Faust (directed by E. Nekrosius). First shows of these performances were held in the frameworks of the Festival.
The Baltic House International Theatre Festival is also a co-producer of performances staged by METASTASIO Theatre (Italy) – Superflu (directed by V. Kramer), Comedy of the Black Angel (directed by M. Bartoli); OCCUPAZIONI FARSESCHE (Italy) – The Gold Man. A Story of One Father and a Thousand of His Sons (directed by R. Sottili).
